On September 29th 2022, the First Lady and Hon. Minister of Education and Sports presided over the regional life skills summit in Jinja district with over 2500 students from selected schools of the districts in Busoga region. Relevant stakeholders were also present. This youth summit was held at Wanyange Girls Secondary School.
The campaign ran under the slogan “Protect the Girl, Save the nation.”
The objective of the youth summit was to empower adolescent girls and boys with life skills for making informed decisions for fulfilling lives and a better nation.
The summit was held for two days. On the first day, over 2500 student leaders were taught by a group of professional facilitators who guided them through the various sessions on life skills. This team was led by OAFLAD Uganda Executive Director, Mrs. Beat Bisangwa.
At the youth Summit, over 2500 adolescent girls and boys signed “True Love Waits” cards to show their commitment to stay sexually pure till marriage.
The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports graced the Busoga youth summit as the chief guest. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for General Duties from Office of the Prime Minister and international delegates from the United Nations (UN) and European Union (EU).
