The First Lady visited Reach out Mbuya where she was led to a tour of the facility by Dr. Stella Alamo Talisuna, the Executive Director, the CDC Country Director, the UNAIDS Country Director, the Mayor of Nakawa Division and the Director OAFLA, among other dignitaries.
Discussions during the site visit included the use of people living with HIV in service delivery, the use of nurses in HIV care and treatment, the achievement of Zero mother to child transmission of HIV, interventions for discordant couples, the family based model of care, the community network of care and design of the home e based care model, food for food insecure households, Village saving and loans associations, orphans and vulnerable children support and various income generating activities. The discussions were enriched with client testimonies on how they accessed services, the benefits and their personal experience living with HIV.
