On September 11th, 2026, OAFLAD Uganda (Organisation of African First Ladies for Development), under the Office of the First Lady, presided over a Regional Stakeholders Dialogue on Young People in Ntungamo District, with nearly 200 stakeholders from Uganda’s South-Western Region.
To empower stakeholders with values, life skills, and appropriate messages to support young people in making responsible and informed decisions.
The dialogue brought together political and district leaders, religious leaders, teachers, parents, civil society organisations, and young people to explore ways to equip adolescents and young adults with values, life skills, and knowledge to make responsible decisions.
Participants were trained under an OAFLAD Uganda programme covering worldviews, sexuality, media and leadership, before developing resolutions on responsible media use, sexuality education, youth participation, counselling, family engagement and school-based guidance.
The dialogue urged stakeholders to move beyond blame and control towards mentorship, positive role modelling, safe spaces, counselling and meaningful leadership opportunities for young people.
