On April 14th 2023, the First Lady and Hon. Minister of Education and Sports presided over the regional life skills summit in Ntungamo district with over 2500 students selected from schools in districts of South western Uganda region and relevant stakeholders. This youth summit was held at Wanyange Girls Secondary School.
The campaign ran under the slogan “Protect the Girl, Save the nation.”
The objective of the youth summit was to empower adolescent girls and boys with life skills for making informed decisions for fulfilling lives and a better nation. The summit was held for two days. Day one had the students guided by a team of professional facilitators who trained them through various sessions on life skills.
At the youth Summit, over 2500 adolescent girls and boys signed “True Love Waits” cards to show their commitment to stay sexually pure till marriage.
The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports graced the south western regional youth summit as the chief guest. The meeting was also attended by the international delegates from the United Nations (UN) and district leaders of Ntungamo district and the headteachers of various schools from south western Uganda.
