The HIV Public Testing event by the President of Uganda and other national leaders held on 8th November 2013, was therefore organized by OAFLA UG to promote the testing of HIV for all Ugandans; this being a first step towards curbing the spread of the Virus and MTCT.  Since it is believed that knowledge of one’s status is an effective strategy for behavioral change and the channel through which those infected can be encouraged to obtain care, treatment and other supportive services.

The importance of involving cultural and religious leaders in the national response to HIV and AIDS is a key factor in the National Response to HIV/AIDS and it is from this premise that the Office of the First Ladies of Africa against AIDS (OAFLA), the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC), Kampala Capital City Authority, together with the Ministry of Health and other partners organized the Dialogue of Cultural and Religious Leaders on the National Response to HIV/AIDS, which was held on 14th November 2013 as a pre-cursor to the Kampala City EMTCT Campaign.

The Karamoja Region Launch is the fourth in a series of EMTCT National Campaigns geared towards creating awareness about the need for Male Involvement in the Reproductive Health of their spouses.  The Campaigns have been a great success in engaging key stakeholders in Stakeholder consultations around EMTCT as well as in creating awareness about the Option B plus and stepping up the availability of commodities in the regions reached.

On 28th June 2013 a Consultative Meeting was held at the Lira Hotel as a pre-cursor to the Launch of the EMTCT Response in the Northern Region, by the EMTCT Champion and First Lady of Uganda Hon.
